Announcing Clipper 1.2

It’s been six months since the first release of Clipper, our free clipboard manager for Android. Almost 9000 downloads later, we are proud to announce the release of Clipper 1.2, a new major version of the application.

During the development of Clipper, we have received a lot of feedback from our users, and the discussions we have had with them have helped with forming a new concept for version 1.2. One of the most commonly requested features has been the ability to add clippings manually, so we’ve decided to add a new feature called snippets.

The user interface is now split into two tabs: the clipboard, and snippets. The clipboard will show regular clippings that have been collected as usual, and the snippets section will show snippets. The difference between a clipping and a snippet is small, but important: snippets are designed to be permanent, whereas clippings are supposed to be temporary. Any important clippings that you see yourself using for a long time can either be pinned, or converted to snippets. Of course, nothing prevents you from adding snippets by hand.

This is only one of the new features in Clipper 1.2. The user interface has received lots of improvements, and there are some other new features that have been requested by users:

  • Clipper will now show up in the “Send menu” when sending plain text data from an application to another.
  • Improvements on the import & export system: the save/load path can now be customized (and we are working on more!)
  • Many internal changes ensure better stability of the clipboard monitor
  • The ability to search clippings (or snippets)
  • And more!

Starting with version 1.2, Clipper has been split into a free version, and a paid version. The paid version, Clipper Plus includes extra features and removes limitations, but we are fully dedicated to maintaining both versions, and being fair to users of the free version: no unrealistic limitations will be added.

We have also done a complete redesign of our website, and more is coming soon.

User feedback is very important to us. If you are somehow confused or dissatisfied with this update, or have any feature requests, do not hesitate to contact us.

The update is now available on the Android Market, along with the Plus version that goes for 0.99 euros. Stay tuned for even more news!
